Although the percentages of
hearing impaired individuals are growing each year,
there are many reasons besides communication with
the deaf to learn American Sign Language. Since
American Sign Language is a well-rounded universal
language developed in France in 1816, it has proven
itself to be an excellent form of general
communication for all ages and for many different
impairments and .
Sign language is currently
being used to aid in, and create communication for
the disabled and speech impaired. Parents with
children who suffer from Autism, Downs Syndrome and
other learning disabilities have found the ASL video
series to be extremely useful in increasing
their abilities to communicate easier and more
effectively with their children.
So why learn American Sign language?
Communicating is the key to
life! As we grow in human understanding,
studies have been able to
link proper communication,
to improving the over-all
welfare (mental and
physical) of children,
handy-cap individuals, and
those with speech and
hearing disabilities.
Without proper communication we struggle in
many areas like; relationship
building, behavior
modification, education, and
basic human understanding.
We have found ASL helps
individuals overcome the frustrations
and torment of bad
communication and/or
non-existent communication.
